Just in case you didn't already know, James Whitehead of Boss Baddie has an announcement to make regarding a game some of you have inquired about from time to time. From the blog post: Lets keep this short n sweet huh. We’re definitely giving up the games business. Big Sky, whilst beloved by all those who reviewed it, can’t sustain us. Everything else is now officially cancelled; Really Big Sky, the unnamed platform/adventure game, Tower and Tormishire. But we’re going out on what was my biggest hit, now including the rest of the Boss Baddie team… Satan Sam. Done right. For the end. The Satan Sam comment would likely refer to a remake of The New Satan Sam that was once stated to be in progress, back when the Boss Baddie site used the bomb logo. When asked about releasing what he had done of Tormishire, he had this to say: It’s way too messy for any kind of demo... Well we’d like to finish some of the ideas we’ve had way into the future, but for now it’s not financially possibly. I mean Tormishire – we really would love to do that. Satan Sam done right, sounds great to me. tormishire had some great videos and concept art. but I still don't think it is as good of an idea as satan sam is. That game has stood the test of time

Lol! Wasn't Tormishire cancelled a year or two ago anyway?

He was trying to create something 'epic' and in doing so became bored... thus releasing smaller games that didn't really grab the attention Tormishire did, then trying to sell them without releasing demos and wondering where he was going wrong. He's taken a pretty arrogant and cocky approach to the whole thing IMHO.

One of the biggest mistakes seems to be that he showed so much of his progress, to get a reaction and boost his ego. When you're proud of something, it's so tempting to show the world early on. Ive come to learn that I don't show any of my work unless Im sure it will be finished, or unless Im making steady progress on it. If Im pleased with something Ill show a couple of friends to get feedback, but yeah, going crazy and making huge project blogs isn't always the best way about it IMO.

The devil is this? Get back in there and finish the fight my man! When a project loses steam- cut features, don't cut the project! Only something like 20% of software sees the light of day, and of video games only perhaps 5%, and of those that do, something like only 20% of those are profitable. Make this the exception!

It's always a bummer when huge projects get cancelled like that. It's one of the reasons I try to avoid revealing too much about my games as well. The only reason I do is because I need feedback from my target audiance.

In any case, I'll be sure to keep Boss Baddie's pitfalls in mind for the future so that I don't travel down the same road.

Hey, I'm not disagreeing with you there. He finished a game, cool shit. I've finished games before, but they've all been lost in hard drive explosions and such so I can't really show or prove that.

The christmas competition game I had was nearly 90% complete, but I was unable to finish it because I have some problems that prevent me from working (chronic migraines, and I just passed 4 kidney stones between then and now). The kidney stones really kept me from finishing the game, lucky me!

Hopefully the 20 line game I'm working on will get finished. Its almost done really . . .

Anyways, he obviously thinks that his game is one of the greatest games ever (see: big ego) and was dissing BB without a good reason. I just milked the rest out of him.

Before we (hopefully (plz? (I seriously hope this works))) quit flaming, I'd like to offer my opinion on this.

I won't flame you to ashes, GamesterXIII, but that attack was pretty uncalled for. I know that sounds really dumb, but Blue66 was just stating his thoughts about James.

He didn't try offending you. Also, I loved GunGirl 2; it kept me addicted for hours on end. The beta testers should be proud to have tested such an awesome game, and Blue66 to have completed such a large undertaking.

That reminds of me of a french exam I took where I just writ "Bacon" for every answer. Theory was I would eventually be correct, but it did not work

I correct what I said, everyone needs to lighten up and grow beards! We all know successful indie game makers have beards, horn rimmed glasses and a goatee. My theory is that this was James reason for stopping Tormishore, a severe lack of beard!

Anyhow its a shame about this, whether or not you like James and his games is beside the point. It's another developer, for whatever his reasons, choosing to quit game-making under his current guise. Maybe this is permanent, maybe not. And it's one less member for the click community, whose back catalogue of games, free or commercial, has undeniably made at least a small impact in our community.

Gamester has been annoying plenty of people for a long time now. Granted, Ive not had a run in with him... yet... but he's getting away with a lot more than I did when Chris silenced me so he could have his petty last say.

The moderation on the site seems really inconsistant. Fair enough, they have 'lives' and can't always notice everything (even though they're on just as much as everyone who's had run ins with Gamester), but I think it's perhaps time a regular who everyone likes and wants to take the responsibilty has a chance. In my opinion, nothing I've seen on this site since I've been on here has been worthy of any kind of punishment, but of course the rules of the site say otherwise. Unless everyone here is completely prudish.

Granted, Gamester has said a few things that were a bit uncalled for, however, the reaction that certain people give (for instance, Eternal Man), are completely childish and unnecessary.

Just remember, cyber bullying usually consists of a multitude of people attacking one person, not one person attacking many people.

I'm sure he'd be a great guy if certain people stop going over the top because of his shinanigans. If you lighten up towards him, he'll lighten up towards you.

The other obvious reasonable alternative is that Gamester and Eternal Man are the same person, he just really wanted to argue with himself.

As the stereotypical saying goes, why can't we all just get along?

I'm pretty new in TDC community, and I'm a bit terrified of the attitude being displayed here. Tormshire was an amazing-looking project, and obviously had a ton of work put into it. Whether you like the producer(s?) or not, a project which had so much poured into it deserves a measure of respect.

Also deserving of respect are other members of TDC. I haven't been around here very long at all, but I'm already sick of seeing F-bomb and S-grenade filled posts. Such lashing out, although satisfying in the moment, never helps the bottom line. This is a game-making community. This is "create-games.com." We're here to keep the indie game developing world alive, not to eat each other up.

Anyway... I'll get off my soap box now. I just can't stand seeing a sad news post turning into a flat out depressing pile of hatefulness.

Rest in peace, Tormshire. We hardly knew ye.

We did all get along very nicely for the first time in years since mr.assbag started behaving like shit. And since no admin reacted upon mr.shit's behaviour, many members got angry. When assbag crossed every form of moral line, backed up by horrendous and Luciano, things got ape-shit.

And there we stand today.
An angry crowd of people and a bag of ass + friends.

This is where we're having a communication breakdown. Where have I said this was okay? I have said countless times that it is one thing for him to do what he does, but another thing for everyone to freak out at it. Personally, I don't think it's punishable behavior, but that doesn't make it nice.

And what does being a respected member of the community have anything to do with anything? Stop playing the seniority card because it is irrelevant. Respect is earned, not demanded. EE may have earned the respect of some people on here, but that is variable is not global. The same goes for him, if he wants people to respect him, he should clean up his act, but simply because he is being disrespectful to you doesn't give you any brownie points jumping to his level.

You aren't lashing out at Gamester, I understand that, what do you stand to gain by defending people that are being just as childish and immature?
